Dear President Biden,
In honor of Presidents Day here is a haiku for you:
You have trained for this
nearly your entire lifetime
and I am grateful.
I am wondering, though, why is it “Presidents Day” and not “President’s Day”? I just double-checked and learned that we’ve had this holiday since 1796 to honor George Washington’s birthday so it seems logical that it would be a singular possessive since it ties back to the one president and his particular birthday. Oh well.
I hope you are got a little bit of a break on this holiday that sounds like it’s about you, but apparently isn’t.
May we all be safe.
May we be willing to check persnickety punctuation.
May we all be healthy and strong.
May we accept that there are a lot of things in this world that aren’t logical.
Sincerely,
Tracy Simpson
